About This Session

Social media is big business, and if you’re not using social platforms to build your brand, you could be missing opportunities. Presented by an architect and prolific LinkedIn geek, this program is geared specifically to design and construction professionals wanting to organically build their networks (in-person and online) and grow their business.

This seminar will take a critical look at actual posts from architects, specification writers, and construction product representatives and analyze them for effectiveness and technique. It will look at setting goals for social media, establishing a voice and a brand, what makes good content, and techniques telling your story. The program will not talk about algorithms, third party tools, or technical hacks for posting; rather, the focus will be on how to create effective content and tell a compelling story.

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will identify and clarify their unique goals for establishing a social media presence.
  • Participants will understand how to use their social media voice to establish expertise in their field, and to build their personal and professional brand around that expertise.
  • Participants will develop a profound appreciation for what defines good content, and how to develop compelling content that will result in increased followers and even new business opportunities.
  • Participants will view examples of effective and ineffective storytelling as they analyze several actual LinkedIn posts. They will discuss what resonates, what does not, the reasons why, and how to employ effective techniques in their own social media.
